Job Description and Person Specification

Job Title:             Business Development Manager - North England/Scotland  

Department:                      Sales                                                                                     

 Reports to:                        Marketing Manager       

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

Operating in the North of the UK, the Business Development Manager will be the main interface with Key account, Ambulance Trusts and Police Forces. The role will encompass all aspects of new business development, customer retention, business development planning and research.

This is a Field Based role with travelling to appointments and some time away from home may be required to deal with the geography, sales meetings, sales training events, conferences, exhibitions both in the UK and internationally.

Principal Accountability:

  • To develop and implement plans in line with Company Strategic objectives for Account Territory
  • To grow sales of the Company’s products in the specified account territory
  • To develop new business to achieve targets and goals set as per your individual objectives
  • To maintain and develop customer relationship management and opportunity pipeline information
  • To identify relevant Bid and Tender opportunities completing opportunity analysis and relevant submissions
  • Identify potential new customers and make contact in order that a sales proposition can be made
  • Respond and follow up on all sales enquiries received from Business Development and Marketing Team
  • Collate and share customer feedback and market intelligence to inform customer strategic approach
  • To attend or host relevant promotional events providing report information

Person Specification:

  • Experience of the UK’s pre-hospital, emergency and first aid related products or experience in working as a paramedic or nurse with clinical experience
  • Must possess experience in generating new business and be capable of a consultative approach working with customers to sustain ongoing active relationships
  • Degree educated or equivalent in a relevant business discipline
  • Proven experience of delivering against objectives and the providing outstanding customer service and care
  • Must possess an outstanding track record of sales success with evidence of that success
  • Experience of B2B sales together with an understanding of the basics of sales, negotiation, customer relationship management and telephone sales
  • Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills
  • Must possess a full and clean driving license
  • Proactive and able to operate within a fast paced environment encompassing a can do attitude
  • Able to work in cross functional teams
  • Highly motivated, driven and enthusiastic
  • Must be able to travel within the UK and ‘flex’ their working hours as required
  • Able to deal with shifting priorities together with the ability to adapt and change
  • Must possess a high level of integrity, commitment and flexibility
  • IT literate with excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent networking, prospecting and research skills
  • Numerate and analytical with good budgetary control skills
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making abilities

  • Hand-on experience of the Blue Light Industry
  • Sales, CS, Commercial exposure
  • Emergency Service Sector
