Location - Stroud (Daniels Industrial Estate) with travel to other sites as required

Full-time, permanent role. Hybrid role - 3 days in the office, 2 days can be worked from home

The Opportunity

The Medical Devices division of DCC Vital has an opportunity for a high calibre, ambitious, qualified accountant with drive, determination, and the ambition to progress his/her career working in a dynamic, highly commercial and growth focussed environment. The position, based at our office in Stroud, Gloucestershire, UK, will require some travel to our businesses in the UK and will provide exposure to senior management in the division.

 

The Medical Devices division of DCC Vital is comprised of businesses in the UK, Germany France, Brazil and the Netherlands. The company’s products are also sold in more than 90 countries through an international distributors network. Manufacturing facilities are in the UK and the Czech Republic. The Medical Devices Group employs c.700 employees of which c. 120 are based in the UK.

 

The UK business includes two legal entities; Fannin (UK) Limited and VacSax Limited.

 

Fannin (UK) Limited is both a manufacturer and supplier of own brand tissue retrieval devices and a distributor of single use medical devices. The manufacturing location is based near Bristol, UK, our offices are in Stroud, Gloucestershire and our warehouse is in Measham, Derbyshire. The company’s products are sold in both the UK and international markets through a distribution network.

 

VacSax is a manufacturer and supplier of disposable suction devices used in operating theatres and hospital wards. The business is headquartered in Plymouth, UK and was acquired in 2019. The company’s products are sold in the UK market as well as international markets through a distribution network.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Financial Controller of Medical Devices UK, the successful candidate will be an integral part of a dynamic finance team, providing financial and commercial support to the business.  The role will include the opportunity to gain experience in managing the various financial aspects of the UK entities, as well as providing commercial and analytical support to the management of the UK companies on the key workstreams required to grow the business. This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a team and to receive excellent experience in all aspects of the finance function.   

 

 

Specific responsibilities in the UK will include:

  • Working in partnership with the senior management team to support the division in achieving its profit and growth targets
  • Responsibility for the preparation of monthly management accounts and reports within defined timelines;
  • Generating and interpreting key management information to support decision making for commercial and financial initiatives in the commercial and operations divisions;
  • Managing all aspects of working capital for the division and pursuing improvement initiatives
  • Preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts for the business;
  • Responsibility for year-end financial reporting and liaison with external audit;
  • Preparation of Statutory accounts, and various other statutory returns;
  • Ensuring full integrity of all information reported for the business
  • Support the accounts payable / accounts receivable / payroll functions in provision of services to the business,
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory reporting requirements are met for the division’s legal entities (Corporation Taxes / VAT reporting, compilation of Insurance requirements, etc).  
  • Liaising with Internal Audit for queries/issues relevant to the business
  • Participation in systems and process review changes and improvements
  • Working with the team to ensure the highest standards of internal controls and financial support services are in place;
  • Participation in various projects on an ad hoc basis.

The Person:

It is anticipated that the role will require some travel in the UK.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Qualified ACA / ACCA (or equivalent) with at least 3 years’ post qualified experience;
  • Instinctively analytical, with a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Team player, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Ability to produce results, prioritizing objectives and scheduling work to make best use of time and resources, in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong IT skills including advanced proficiency in Excel. 
  • Previous experience working with Sage and SAP would be an advantage.
