Commercial Excellence Intern

 The Opportunity

  • A 9-week paid internship programme within VH Ireland (€185m revenue in 2025 with 335 employees). The Commercial Excellence (Commex) team supports the Medical Devices, Scientific and Pharma sales and distribution businesses. The team is comprised of three people with responsibility for tender/contract management, customer-relationship management, pricing analysis and governance, reporting, business intelligence, process improvement projects and customer quotations. The Commex team works closely with sales teams’ management, IT and finance.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sales Force Effectiveness - identifying customers and products with revenue growth potential and margin enhancement opportunities by territory, therapy area, and channel (public/private)
  • Pricing & Margin Analytics - analysis on average selling price by product / customer, price dispersion for similar portfolio items and margin leakage
  • Tender and Contract Analytics - review historical tender win/loss data, quantify value ‘on contract’, volume/margin achieved vs assumptions, and determine predictive indicators of tender successes.
  • Key Product and Agency Portfolio Analytics – leverage CRM data to complete account prioritisation and segmentation (value and potential)
  • Process Improvement – Support ongoing process improvement initiatives including BI insights, Power Automate / RPA and automation opportunities
  • Adhoc day-to-day Commex tasks and project support as needed

 

Experience & profile:

  • Business and Data Analytics skills or relevant work / academic project experience – ideally one analytics language
  • Advanced MS Excel knowledge (data cleaning, pivots, power query, lookups etc.)
  • Strong Data Visualisation (Power BI, Qlik, Other)
  • Statistical modelling, P&L understanding, SAP skills desirable but not essential
  • Interest in Irish healthcare industry, commercial curiosity, willingness to learn
