What you will do:

We are currently seeking an effective leader candidate to join our team as an Outbound Operations Manager for Exertis|JAM, located in Southaven, MS.

The OUTBOUND Operations Manager is responsible for reporting to the DC Director of Operations.

 

Responsibilities:

The OUTBOUND Operations Manager is responsible for the overall success of the warehouse and will be responsible for overseeing all warehouse activities related to the Picking, verification, and the shipping of all our customer orders. 

 

  • Implement best practices across the distribution operations and work collaboratively with our other Distribution Centers/Departments
  • Through the support of the Warehouse, Shipping and Supervisors, oversee employee relations which include assisting with final recruitment activities, overseeing new staff training, coaching and developing associates, participating in staff disciplinary action meetings, coaching and training associates, conducting performance reviews and finalizing salary increases, approving department vacations, enforcing health and safety procedures, communicating all new policies to department employees, and maintaining positive staff morale levels.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of, and develop alternatives for, current work standards, procedures, controls and staffing to achieve accurate and timely movement and processing of our Outbound customer orders.
  • Able to foresee potential performance issues based upon industry climate, seasonality, and changing business needs and be able to develop solutions. Work with the Division Managers and other relevant departments to analyze reports and provide solutions and adjust business policies and practices, as needed.
  • Review and analyze weekly productivity reports of items shipped and ordered, as well as research any discrepancies or anomalies. Ensure all issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that Company policies are being followed and upheld with regards to the transportation of product and customer’s shipping rules are followed by all carriers.
  • Remain abreast of new packaging material trends and maintain positive supplier relations.
  • Oversee and participate in the annual Distribution Center labor budgets and forecasts and ensure that the Distribution Center remains on-track to achieve budgeted goals.
  • Supervise and execute the annual inventory count.
  • Ensure the building and premises are well-maintained and safe always. Act as the key contact person in case of break-in, fire, or other security issues. Coordinate any repair work or renovations needed for the building and manage contracts with garbage and other service providers.

 

What we are looking for:

  • 7-10 years related work experience managing a medium-sized (60-150 employees) automated distribution center.
  • Completed College degree in Business, Commerce, or Supply Chain Operations Management/inventory control. APICS certification, and/or knowledge of ERP/WMS parameter management as asset. 
  • Proficient computer literacy (MS Office, JD Edwards One World), ability to understand complex logistics data analysis and develop recommendations.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead and motivate large teams, leading by example and implementing difficult change initiatives. 
  • Demonstrated leadership & coaching, interpersonal, and communication skills. Able to motivate all levels of employees with keen business judgment, professional competence, credibility, flexibility and personal integrity.
  • Must have a proven ability to be a team player.
  • Strong and proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of customers, employees, co-workers and suppliers.
  • Proven and verifiable track record of previous success and improvement accomplishments within distribution environment.
  • Demonstrated organizational ability and follow-through as well as a strong ability to adapt to change.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Must have EXCELLENT INNTERPERSONAL SKILLS.
  • Must be open to a consistently changing environment.
