Trading Manager

Flogas Ireland is seeking to recruit a Trading Manager for a 12-month fixed term contract. This is a varied role to aid a busy and dynamic Department. The role can operate from a Flogas office in either Dublin, Drogheda, Derry, or Belfast in a hybrid capacity. The successful candidate will work as part of a team responsible for the wholesale trading and pricing activities for the electricity and gas supplier.
Responsibilities & Supporting actions
Trading
- Trading and managing of forward gas and electricity positions
- Balancing of short-term electricity and gas positions
Pricing
- Pricing of commercial and industrial customers along with commercial teams
- Pricing of power purchase agreements (PPAs) across renewable generation technologies
Forecasting and Settlement
- Supporting finance teams with regular forecasting of wholesale costs
- Assisting with settlement and reporting of out-turn wholesale costs
Hedging Strategy and Analysis
- Assessment and refinement of hedging strategy
- Analysis and optimisation of margins through pricing activity
- Ad hoc analysis as required
People
- Managing assigned direct reports from a people leadership perspective, including employee performance, training & development.
Other Activities and Responsibilities
- Manage counterparty collateral positions and margin calls
- Represent Flogas and Budget Energy on Industry Forums
- Review regulatory/ market consultations and prepare responses
- Assessment and onboarding of trading counterparties
- Review market development impact assessments and lead the implementation of necessary changes
- Take part in necessary project work from time to time
Criteria
- Data management skills with advanced knowledge of excel, databases, SQL, VBA
- Knowledge of energy/commodity markets

Knowledge & Skills:
- Degree level qualification in either a business, mathematics, engineering or finance discipline
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role/environment

- Excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication skills and the ability to take ownership and responsibility for the role
- Strong attention to detail
- Works under pressure, deadline orientated and flexible working attitude
