Flogas Britain is one of the largest distributors of off-grid energy in the UK and has 40 years’ experience of providing solutions to both commercial and domestic customers, principally in the form of liquid gas. The business has a longstanding record of organic growth driven by new installations, underpinned by a strong technical engineering expertise and capability, which combined with several bolt-on acquisitions has resulted in its market share increasing from 10% to over 30%.
The business is at the forefront of the energy transition having developed a prominent track record in converting customers from higher emissions fuels to lower carbon and cleaner solutions for the last decade and is now well placed with a significant range of opportunities to develop and diversify into New Energies into the future in line with our 2040 vision to provide 100% renewable solutions to customers.
Flogas has been highly acquisitive in executing this strategy, investing over £50 million in the recent acquisitions of Protech, DTGen and Equity Energies, bringing together a compelling proposition of products, technologies, and services to support customers in navigating their energy needs through the transition and to execute their strategies in regard to energy cost, security and carbon emissions on their own pathway to net zero.
Flogas Britain has revenues of around £400 million and employs over 1,500 people across its multi-site operation across Britain with its headquarters in Syston, Leicestershire.
JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the principal function of the role is to provide financial, commercial and strategic support to the sales and commercial business units in order to ensure optimum margin performance and sales volume growth. This will be done through direct support, production, analysis and interpretation of financial information and through the development of existing processes and controls within Overheads.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Directly support the operations team in various areas of activity; giving sound recommendations on reducing controllable costs, reviewing key items of capex, presenting to key stakeholders around the business in an effective manner.
• Lead relevant efficiency improvement projects.
• Help develop, produce and review KPIs and financial information to ensure that we are consistently improving our performance.
• To provide analytical costs support to the business, specifically around what’s driven costs up or down. Identify trends/issues and recommend areas where improvement could be given to maximise opportunities.
• Work closely with commercial team to ensure costs are considered hand in hand with sales and strategy of the business.
• To highlight underperforming areas of the business (internally or external markets) and to support stakeholders to ensure that appropriate performance plans are put in place.
• To support the existing budgeting and forecasting overheads, capital expenditure, headcount.
• Assist with ensuring capital expenditure is in line with internal and Group policies.

JOB HOLDER REQUIREMENTS
• Qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA).
• Strong personal presence with interpersonal and communication skills to be able to engage at all levels
• Ability to develop mutually beneficial relationships with prospects, internal and external stakeholders
• Strong Commercial awareness and business acumen with an ability to maintain professional scepticism
• Ability to work autonomously, manage to tight timescales and prioritise effectively
• Passion, energy and commitment with high personal integrity and a practical, pragmatic and hardworking presence with the flexibility and mobility required for the role.
ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL SKILLS
• Qualified accountant with at least 1 years PQE and relevant experience
• Advance excel skills
