Flogas Britain is one of the largest distributors of off-grid energy in the UK and has 40 years’ experience of providing solutions to both commercial and domestic customers, principally in the form of liquid gas. The business has a longstanding record of organic growth driven by new installations, underpinned by a strong technical engineering expertise and capability, which combined with several bolt-on acquisitions has resulted in its market share increasing from 10% to over 30%.
The business is at the forefront of the energy transition having developed a prominent track record in converting customers from higher emissions fuels to lower carbon and cleaner solutions for the last decade and is now well placed with a significant range of opportunities to develop and diversify into New Energies into the future in line with our 2040 vision to provide 100% renewable solutions to customers.
Flogas has been highly acquisitive in executing this strategy, investing over £50 million in the recent acquisitions of Protech, DTGen and Equity Energies, bringing together a compelling proposition of products, technologies, and services to support customers in navigating their energy needs through the transition and to execute their strategies in regard to energy cost, security and carbon emissions on their own pathway to net zero.
Flogas Britain has revenues of around £400 million and employs over 1,500 people across its multi-site operation across Britain with its headquarters in Syston, Leicestershire.
JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Head of Change in the IT department, you will be responsible for extracting and documenting requirements and process maps for business processes and supporting a range of IT and Change projects. The Business Analyst will provide a connection between business functions, technical community and suppliers enabling application and solution development. You will define and document internal and external user interfaces, business processes, systems and data requirements for projects and processes leading to the successful delivery of a solution to the business.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Work with the Project Manager, Test manager and wider IT department to help the business translate their problem statement into requirements that can be understood by third party suppliers and developers
- Ensure requirements are compliant with legislation such as PCI and GDPR and Company and Group Policies
- Work on large scale projects as well as handling day-to-day operational requests from the business
- Provide understandable process maps for stakeholders as requested or needed for projects
- Be able to document requirements and processes in various formats, understanding the best format for the project
- Understand a high-level project requirement and use techniques to derive more detailed requirements
- Run meetings and workshops to extract process details and define and refine requirements
- Analyse and translate business requirements into functional and non-functional requirements
- Work with third party suppliers to transform and develop requirements into functional business and application design
- Use business analysis tools and techniques to support projects and the business
- Support the delivery of key products and bespoke implementations
- Take ownership of the requirements throughout the project lifecycle
- Act as a liaison between business and technology partners
- Gain in-depth understanding of business services, capabilities and processes
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Lead workstreams or small projects as required and assisting Project Managers on larger more complex projects
- Support testing and implementation

JOB HOLDER REQUIREMENTS
Essential:
• Experience of Business Analysis, System Engineering and Modelling Techniques.
• Have a proven understanding of the project and software development lifecycles
• Experience providing project level analysis – producing required project analysis documentation (business requirements, scope matrix, use cases, sequence diagrams, future state proposals, etc.)
• Demonstrable ability to analyse and synthesise business requirements and create process maps to an agreed format
• Strong Stakeholder management – dealing with all levels of stakeholders including third party suppliers and Company Directors
• Experience of resolving conflicting opinions and requirements
• Ability to challenge assumptions
• Demonstrate experience of Functional and technical specification design and documentation
• Experience of running workshops and meetings
• Identify and understand business issues and challenges of the organisation and industry.
• Excellent written skills and experience of writing project documentation
• Ability to adapt between communication with the business community and technical community and translate the requirements in an understandable way to each of them
• Ability to work independently and demonstrate tenacity to deliver
• A passion for IT and organisation improvement and change
• Ability to work across multiple projects,
• Excellent attention to detail
Desirable:
• Agile, ISEB Analysis and/or any Project Management qualifications would be beneficial
• A recognised BA qualification
ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL SKILLS
• Advanced Visio skills
• Ability to produce detailed process diagrams
• Good excel skills
• Ability to document use cases and user stories
• Ability to run effective meetings and workshops remotely
