Purpose of the role

The HSE Transformation Lead will be a pivotal figure in revolutionizing our approach to safety within the Energy Division. This role is not just about compliance and risk management; it's about embedding a culture of resilience, adaptability, and continuous learning. The successful candidate will drive the research, design, development, and implementation of a safety culture program that is deeply integrated with our operational realities, empathetic to our diverse workforce, and proactive in its approach to safety and problem-solving.

This role will not only drive change within the Energy Division but also contribute significantly to the overall safety and well-being of our employees.  Through the development and roll out of an impactful HSE Engagement Plan this position will support and elevate our engagement and learning for world class safety culture and performance.

 

Key responsibilities
Inclusive and Resilient Program Framework Development

  • Develop a safety culture program that emphasizes flexibility, learning, and inclusivity, tailored to our diverse workforce.

Empowerment and Engagement Strategy Development

  • Working in partnership with the Organisational Capability Lead and the Internal communications lead, create and deliver an Engagement Plan with activities that empower all employees to actively participate in safety culture, promoting proactive problem identification and solution generation.

Adaptive Training and Communication

  • Working in partnership with the Organisational Capability Lead and the Internal communications lead, develop and implement dynamic training materials and communication plans that foster a continuous dialogue and shared learning environment.

Culture Advocate

  • Stay ahead of industry developments, regulations, and best practices to ensure our safety culture program remains innovative and effective.

Organisational Learning and Assessment

  • Lead the evaluation of current safety practices by focusing on real-life work conditions, employee interactions, and adaptability to unexpected challenges.

Contextual Benchmarking and System Analysis

  • Benchmark our practices against a wide range of industries, identifying both system gaps and strengths in our current approach.

Iterative Policy and Procedure Implementation

  • Oversee the responsive evolution of policies and procedures, ensuring they are aligned with real-world insights and practices.

Continuous Monitoring and Reflective Evaluation

  • Regularly evaluate the program's effectiveness, focusing on adaptability, learning, and proactive problem-solving capabilities.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at various levels to ensure the effective implementation and integration of the safety culture program. Foster partnerships that encourage collective ownership and commitment to safety goals

 

The Candidate

 

Experience:

  • Proven experience in leading safety culture programs in the energy sector or other high-risk industries.
  • Demonstrated ability in implementing change management initiatives and organizational learning strategies.
  • Experience in designing and executing training programs and communication strategies.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Occupational Health and Safety, Organizational Psychology, Engineering).

Specific Knowledge:

  • Deep understanding of modern safety philosophies that prioritize resilience, adaptability, and human factors.
  • Knowledge of diverse cultural contexts and how they impact organizational behaviour and learning.
