How you'll power our business as a Mechanical Installation Support Engineer

As a Mechanical Installation Support Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting the planning, coordination, installation and commissioning of generator and power generation projects. Working across a wide range of customer environments, you'll provide technical expertise across mechanical installations including fuel systems, pipework, exhaust systems, lift and shift operations, structural steelwork and associated infrastructure, helping to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

What you'll be doing

• Providing technical support for the installation of diesel and gas-powered generator systems.
• Assisting with the review of project drawings, specifications and site surveys prior to installation.
• Supporting mechanical design reviews and identifying potential installation challenges.
• Coordinating installation activities and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
• Assisting with the planning and coordination of generator lift and shift operations.
• Working closely with lifting contractors, crane operators and transport providers to support safe equipment movements.
• Supporting the installation and integration of fuel tanks, fuel transfer systems, fuel polishing systems and monitoring equipment.
• Assisting with the installation and commissioning of fuel pipework systems, including mild steel, stainless steel and flexible fuel connections.
• Supporting the installation of generator exhaust systems, including silencers, flues, bellows, expansion joints and attenuation systems.
• Assisting with the design, procurement and installation of structural steelwork, bracketry and support systems.
• Conducting site surveys, technical assessments and producing detailed reports and recommendations.
• Coordinating subcontractors and specialist suppliers to support successful project delivery.
• Supporting testing, inspections, snagging activities and project handovers.
• Promoting safe working practices and ensuring compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation.
• What we'll need from you

Essential

• Experience within generator installation, power generation, M&E, industrial plant or critical infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of fuel systems, mechanical pipework, exhaust systems, generator installations and structural support systems.
• Experience coordinating lift and shift operations.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong understanding of mechanical installation best practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to travel nationwide and work on customer sites.

Desirable

• SMSTS or SSSTS qualification.
• IOSH or NEBOSH certification.
• Appointed Person or Lift Supervisor experience.
• Knowledge of CDM regulations.
• Experience within standby power, data centres, healthcare, utilities or industrial sectors.
