How you'll power our business as an Electrical Installation Engineer

As an Electrical Installation Engineer, you'll play a key role in leading and delivering the safe, efficient and compliant installation, testing, maintenance and modification of generator systems, LV electrical infrastructure and associated control systems across a wide range of sectors including commercial, industrial, healthcare, military, data centres, utilities and critical power environments. You'll combine your extensive electrical installation expertise with strong leadership and customer-facing skills, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

 

What you'll be doing

  • Leading the installation of generator systems, from small standby units through to multi-megawatt installations.
  • Installing LV distribution equipment, switchgear, transformers, ATS panels, AMF systems, synchronisation systems and generator control panels.
  • Installing containment systems including tray, basket, ladder rack, trunking and conduit.
  • Installing and terminating power and control cabling.
  • Carrying out modifications to existing electrical infrastructure and conducting pre-installation site inspections.
  • Interpreting electrical drawings, schematics and technical specifications to ensure accurate project delivery.
  • Supporting the installation, integration and commissioning of diesel and gas generator systems.
  • Assisting with ATS and generator changeover installations, synchronisation and load testing activities.
  • Performing electrical testing and inspection in accordance with BS7671 and completing all associated certification.
  • Planning installation activities, coordinating labour and materials, and supporting project delivery against programme and budget requirements.
  • Supervising engineers, subcontractors and apprentices, providing technical guidance, training and mentoring.
  • Liaising directly with customers, consultants, principal contractors and site management teams to deliver outstanding service and technical solutions.
  • Producing and reviewing RAMS, promoting safe systems of work and ensuring compliance with all health, safety and quality requirements.

 

What we'll need from you

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience within industrial and commercial electrical installation environments.
  • Extensive experience working with generator systems and critical power infrastructure.
  • Strong technical knowledge of LV electrical systems, generators and associated control systems.
  • Proven experience supervising site-based engineering teams and subcontractors.
  • Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of DNO and IDNO requirements.
  • Experience interpreting technical drawings, schematics and specifications.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and customer relationship skills.
  • The ability to work independently while managing multiple projects across various customer sites.
  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation.
  • City & Guilds 2391 (or equivalent) Inspection & Testing qualification.
  • BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • ECS Gold Card.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS qualification.
  • First Aid at Work certification.
