Purpose of the role

Develop, support and help to execute DCC Energy’s carbon strategy, policies and approach to carbon emission abatement, carbon negative solutions and industry engagement and alignment on carbon. This role will work closely with the Energy Leadership Team to help to identify carbon choices that are synergistic with our wider growth aspirations. Working closely with each of the market teams leaderships on carbon reporting, pricing, offsetting & trading. Along with working regularly with DCC Group’s Sustainability team. 

 

Key responsibilities

Develop Carbon strategy, policies, and approach:

  • Working closely with the Energy Leadership team to develop strategy, policies, and approach on carbon abatement, and help them to understand key strategic choices that impact carbon.
  • Cascading this strategy, policies, and approach to the Extended Leadership team to help uplift knowledge and capability on carbon.
  • Innovating in commercialization of carbon abatement for DCC Energy.
  • Identifying carbon choices that are synergistic with our wider growth aspirations.
  • Working with Market teams and Finance on carbon reporting, pricing, offsetting & trading.


Build community of carbon practice:

  • Developing a network of carbon practitioners across each of the Market teams to share expertise, best practice, guide and inform.
  • Outlining the shared vision and bringing this community on the journey towards net zero
  • Communicating and advocating key carbon messages and plans to key stakeholders.


Drive initiatives that deliver the carbon abatement strategy:

  • Play a key role in devising programs that enable DCC to meet its carbon abatement plan such as internal price for carbon projects, new partnerships for carbon negative solutions.
  • Influence key stakeholders to ensure successful adoption of the abatement program.


Develop key messaging around carbon:

  • Design and develop key messaging to share internally, externally with key stakeholders on the strategy, policies, approach, and governance around carbon.
  • Provide carbon data and strategy to DCC Investor Relations teams, ensuring they have the right materials and messaging that support external communications.


​​​​​​​The Candidate

  • 10-15 years’ experience in the Sustainability area with proven ability, and clear evidence of success within a Sustainability leadership role
  • Track record in sustainability and understands measurement of carbon and the regulatory bodies and agencies who set relevant industry standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage with a broad mix of stakeholders across DCC Group, DCC Energy and DCC Businesses
  • Demonstrated experience and a passion for Carbon, Sustainability, and the Energy Transition.
  • Change agent who can support the development of systems – carbon pricing, carbon targets; carbon negative solutions and can chart DCC Energy’s path to Net Zero emissions particularly abatement of final 50%
  • Track record of setting out a clear and well-defined Sustainability vision and strategy
  • Strong track record of policy development and implementation
  • Fluency in one other language (preferably French, German, or Swedish) is desirable but not essential.
