How you’ll power our business as a Yardhand 

 

As a Yardhand, you will assist the Facilities Manager to ensure all FMG areas are maintained correctly and safe, giving support to distribution department when required and agreed with Line Manager. You will assist with stock control of consumables and spares components used within the FMG business, pre use checks on FLT’s and pump trucks.   

 

Here’s what you’ll be doing 

 

  • Safely load and unload Medical Gas cylinders from vehicles and trailers, ensuring secure handling and correct stacking procedures. 

  • Follow strict health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with Flogas operating procedures and HSE guidelines. 

  • Identify and report ‘near misses’ and workplace hazards, promoting a proactive safety culture. 

  • Support yard housekeeping duties, ensuring work areas are kept clean, organised, and free from obstructions. 

  • Operate machinery such as forklifts to assist in the movement and storage of cylinders and equipment. 

  • Conduct a variety of general maintenance tasks within competency around FMG sites. 

 

What we’ll need from you 

 

  • Ability to work in a team or independently, demonstrating a proactive and reliable approach. 

  • Strong awareness of health & safety practices, particularly in handling hazardous materials. 

  • Physically fit, proactive with a can-do attitude. 

  • Numeracy and literacy skills, ensuring accuracy in pre use checks, stock control etc. 

  • Good communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and management. 

  • Flexible and adaptable, able to multitask and respond to changing priorities. 

  • Honest, trustworthy, and dependable, with a strong work ethic and commitment to safety.
