How you’ll power our business as a Controls and Instrumentation Manager
As a Control and Instrumentation (C&I) Manager you will be responsible for designing, developing, and working with the C&I team at Engineering Services to install, manage and maintain control panels and instrumentation that is used to monitor and control systems. You will ensure that these systems and processes operate effectively, efficiently and safely.

We’re already supporting our customers to reduce their carbon emissions, by helping them make the switch from oil to gas. We’re also developing our offering for technologies such as heat pumps and solar panels, beginning to help our customers reduce their energy consumption and evolving new bio-fuels and renewable gases. Here’s what you’ll be doing

Supporting the development of User Requirement Specifications (URS), Functional Design Specifications (FDS), control philosophies, and technical specifications for depot upgrades, LNG facilities, customer installations, and other large or complex engineering projects.

Acting as the C&I Design Authority for assigned projects, ensuring that control system designs comply with company standards, legislative requirements, functional safety obligations, and operational needs.

Leading the technical design phase of projects, including engagement with suppliers, system integrators, panel manufacturers, and specialist contractors to develop robust, standardised, and supportable engineering solutions.

Supporting HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, DSEAR, COMAH, and other technical risk assessments to ensure appropriate control and protection systems are specified and implemented in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.

Developing and maintaining Flogas standards for control systems, instrumentation, software architecture, communications, alarm management, cybersecurity, and panel design to drive consistency across both operational and customer assets.

Providing technical review, challenge, and approval of engineering deliverables including P&IDs, FDS, Cause & Effect charts, control narratives, panel designs, software strategies, FAT/SAT procedures, commissioning documentation, and associated technical records.
What we’ll need from you

Location is based in UK with travel to projects

Recognised qualification in instrumentation & process control or electrical engineering including Compex 12 or 14 (Or willing to work towards)

PLC programming and logic control qualifications – preferable Emerson DCS & Siemens Step7 & TIA Platforms

Experience of design, installation and commissioning of Hazardous Area Electrical systems

Ideally working towards or has TUV Certified Functional Safety Professional IEC 61508 & 61511

Electrical requirements of BSEN:67009

Design commissioning and test regimes for electrical equipment

Designing a FAT and SAT test for new panels
