Description: 

The role of Business Development Manager is a field-based role responsible for the management, relationship development and sales growth of the Exertis Datacentre portfolio across a set of customers. This is achieved through the exposure of vendor products, services and value proposition to identified accounts, in conjunction with the internal sales account managers, and the respective Business Unit Managers.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible managing and developing the Exertis UK relationship within an agreed number of named accounts within the Exertis UK Enterprise account base.
  • Developing and cultivating professional business relationships with decision makers within these accounts, and ensuring on going customer satisfaction, further establishing Exertis UK as the distributor of choice.
  • Determining mutually agreeable contractual terms with customers and management within Exertis, and work to commercial terms in line with existing account structure (i.e. understand any hidden commercial agreements or rebates).
  • Managing the complete sales cycle from initial meetings through to purchase order acceptance.
  • Supporting the General Sales Manager(s) and Sales teams, and provide feedback on customer activity and comments.
  • Acting as an escalation point within accounts for any issues between the Exertis Account Manager and Customer.
  • Developing bespoke promotional events within accounts and offer assistance for exhibitions (both Exertis UK & Reseller events).
  • Building relationships with key vendors and form a supportive partnership between Exertis, customer and suppliers.
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders (Finance, Operations, Customer Services, Supply Chain, Sales management) to ensure business is achieved with one common goal and within the customers’ boundaries.
  • Forecasting product information to commercial and purchasing to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Prepare budgets and plans as required.
  • Conducting regular business reviews with relevant customers, vendors, business units and sales management, to track performance, discuss any issues, develop strategic plans and take appropriate action where required, providing visit reports and meeting agendas to customers as well as internally as required, ensuring any meeting follow up is actioned.
  • Presenting formal and informal presentations to small and large groups easily adapting content and style to suit the audience. Maintaining group focus with fresh information, appealing narrative and articulate responses to unrehearsed comments and questions.
  • Provide weekly progress reports on account activities and forecast.
  • Attend and present at the quarterly business reviews as and when required.
  • Using the internal systems to track and report on performance. Demonstrating the ability to interpret and communicate data clearly to meet the needs of the audience.
  • Demonstrate a strong awareness of and commitment to Ethics and Compliance and the DCC Group Code of Conduct.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Ability to deliver against Gross profit, turnover and margin targets
  • Communication Skills (including listening skills and ability to relate to a wide range of people)
  • Presentation Skills (PowerPoint, hold an audience) 
  • IT Literacy (and an ability to adopt to new systems in an IT enabled organisation)
  • Ability to plan and prioritise work
  • Ability to exercise judgement/make decisions
  • Knowledge of relevant market sector
  • Knowledge of customers within focused market sectors
  • Ability to interface at senior levels within the customer environment to maximise opportunities
  • Ability to develop long term business relationships leading to sustained profitable business

 

Ideal Requirements:

  • Previous external customer facing experience is desirable
  • Be able to demonstrate experience in preparing business plans benefiting both Exertis, customer and vendor
  • A proven ability to think and act strategically
  • The ability to liaise with all a number of areas across the Exertis support and back office function
  • Knowledge of relevant product portfolio
  • Knowledge of customer contacts within account base
  • Knowledge of the competition           
  • Face to face Account Manager experience

Flexible working

At Exertis we recognise that ways of working have changed, which is why we have adopted a flexible way of working in our offices.
