Job Title:                      Assistant Accountant


Department:               Finance


Reports to:                  Finance Director                    


Purpose of the Job:


We are seeking a bright and tenacious Part-Qualified Accountant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone that is looking for long-term growth and career progression with the opportunity to develop into a financial controller.


The role will be challenging, yet rewarding and will provide the successful applicant with an insight into a busy, high profile business who are part of DCC Vital. This is a truly exciting role for someone who is looking to progress and has the desire and determination to succeed.


Main Duties/Responsibilities and Knowledge/Skills Requirements


Key Duties:


  • Assisting in the production of the monthly management accounts pack, supporting with month end close 


  • Balance sheet reconciliations 


  • Assisting in the preparation of budgets and forecasts


  • Accruals/ pre-payments


  • Journal entry


  • Maintenance of the fixed asset register 


  • Involvement with on-going projects and assisting with process improvements to enhance business operations 


  • ERP Experience (SAP)


Knowledge and Understanding Required


•          Knowledge of SAP or similar accounting package

•          Knowledge of Microsoft desktop packages to include Outlook, Word and with excellent Excel skills



Person specification


  • Minimum 2.1 Finance / Business degree


  • Ideally min 1 year experience in a relevant role either as part of a degree scheme or post graduation


  • Part-qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA studier


  • Self-motivated and pro-active attitude 


  • Strong business acumen


  • Enthusiastic and driven


  • Ability to work to tight deadlines


  • Always striving for process improvements and ways of working smarter
