As a Solar Installation Project Manager, you'll play a key role in delivering commercial solar PV projects across the UK, helping businesses reduce energy costs, lower carbon emissions, and improve energy resilience. You'll take ownership of projects from contract award through to commissioning and handover, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams, you'll help drive the successful delivery of renewable energy solutions that support the UK's transition to a more sustainable future.

What you’ll be doing 

  • Managing the end-to-end delivery of commercial solar PV projects, including rooftop, ground-mount and carport installations. 

  • Developing and maintaining project programmes, monitoring milestones, risks and critical paths to ensure successful project delivery. 

  • Coordinating design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover activities. 

  • Managing project budgets, controlling costs, monitoring variations and reporting financial performance to senior management. 

  • Supporting DNO applications and grid connection processes, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards including G98/G99, MCS and BS 7671. 

  • Appointing, managing and coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and multi-disciplinary project teams. 

  • Building strong client relationships, leading project meetings and providing clear project updates throughout delivery. 

  • Ensuring full compliance with CDM Regulations 2015 and maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and quality across all project sites. 

  • Conducting site inspections, audits, practical completions and reviewing RAMS to ensure safe working practices are maintained. 

 

What we’ll need from you 

Essential: 

  • Proven project management experience within solar, renewable energy, electrical construction or a similar sector. 

  • Strong understanding of commercial solar PV systems and project delivery. 

  • Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and multiple project sites. 

  • Knowledge of DNO grid application processes, including G98/G99 requirements. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel and project management software. 

  • Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills. 

  • Full UK driving licence. 

 

Desirable: 

  • SMSTS qualification. 

  • IOSH or NEBOSH certification. 

  • Electrical background, including 18th Edition qualification. 

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline. 

  • Experience of battery storage or EV charging integration projects.
