Job Title:  Head of Routing

How you’ll power our business as a Head of Routing 

As our Head of Routing, you will lead the strategic planning, optimisation and execution of fuel distribution across our network, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient delivery operations that keep our customers supplied and our business moving. You will take ownership of routing performance, fleet utilisation and depot service capability, while working closely with operational, commercial and supply teams to drive continuous improvement, service excellence and cost efficiency. This is a high-profile leadership role with responsibility for developing the routing strategy, enhancing operational performance through technology and data, and leading teams to deliver outstanding customer outcomes.

What you’ll be doing 

• Lead all routing and distribution planning activities, ensuring efficient daily scheduling, dispatch and delivery execution across the network. 

• Drive route optimisation to maximise fleet utilisation, improve efficiency, reduce operational costs and deliver against customer commitments. 

• Oversee real-time operational performance, proactively responding to delays, supply issues and changing customer requirements. 

• Collaborate with operational, supply, stock, customer service and commercial teams to ensure seamless service delivery. 

• Maintain oversight of stock availability, depot readiness and product movements. 

• Champion the use of technology, planning systems, AI and data analytics to improve performance. 

• Ensure compliance with all relevant transport, safety and regulatory requirements. 

• Lead, coach and develop Routing Team Leaders and Routers. 

• Manage budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities. 

What we’ll need from you 

• Significant leadership experience within routing, logistics, distribution, transport or supply chain operations. 

• Proven experience of route optimisation, fleet planning and operational performance management. 

• Strong analytical capability and experience using technology to improve efficiency. 

• Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills. 

• Strong understanding of transport, safety and compliance requirements. 

• Experience managing budgets and delivering cost improvements.
